An end of year message from CMC Director, Evonne Ferguson

DSC 0254 Composer Seoirse Bodley with CMC Director Evonne Ferguson at the launch of Choirland - An Anthology of Irish Choral Music

2012 has been a busy and productive year for CMC, with our core services being complemented by an innovative events programme, not to mention new projects, new partners and new faces here among the staff at the CMC.

Through creative partnerships with many individuals and organisations, CMC was able to deliver exciting seminars, performances, launches, interviews, projects and more, reflecting the vibrant world of new Irish music. So many musical highlights in 2012!

The CMC Board, staff and I are proud to have launched Choirland – An Anthology of Irish Choral Music, a partnership initiative with the National Chamber Choir and the Association of Irish choirs, to mark sixty years since the foundation of the Arts Council; to have welcomed so many people into the centre on Culture Night to hear works by over fifty CMC composers; to participate in National Music Day - Love: Live Music with Live at Your Place; to have presented live performances here in the centre, including our August solo series; to have traveled to represent Irish composers at many festivals and events around the country, including Drumcliff Festival Sligo, Waterford New Music Week, Belfast Festival and internationally as a partner in the pan-European network new music:new Audiences.

Thanks to all of you who have helped us make 2012 such a successful year for new music from Ireland and continued success to all the composers we are honoured to represent.

Best wishes for a peaceful holiday season and a musically prosperous 2013.
