Eimear Quinn, RTÉ NSO and Dublin Laptop Orchestra perform new works by Emma O’Halloran and Alex Dowling on 27 October

Eimear Quinn is best known for her winning performance of The Voice at the 1996 Eurovision Song Contest, but has since maintained an interest in performing music by Irish composers that has extended into her own albums and concerts. She will join the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra (RTÉ NSO) and the Dublin Laptop Orchestra (DLork) for a programme of music by Irish composers.

Emma O’Halloran’s Whisper City takes its inspiration from the US podcast whispercities.org and explores the ‘secret music’ of Dublin streets. The work will be performed by Eimear Quinn, DLork and the RTÉ NSO.

The concert also includes the world premiere of Very Pointy by DLork founder Alex Dowling, alongside works by Séan Ó Riada, Brendan Graham, Aloys Fleischmann and Thomas Moore, as well as a setting by Eimear Quinn.

The concert forms part of the Beyond the Season series by the RTÉ NSO and takes place at 8pm on Saturday, 27 October 2012 at the National Concert Hall, with ticket prices from €10 – €35.
