A new music theatre work from composer Ailís Ní Riain takes place from 1–6 October 2012

Treasured is a large-scale site-specific work of music theatre that was written for Liverpool’s Anglican Cathedral, inspired by the story of the HMS Titanic and exploring the untold stories of the people who were part of its tragic maiden voyage. The work aims to move beyond the re-telling of the tale of this 1912 voyage and expose some of the myths that surround the tragedy.

Running for eight performances only, Treasured will involve players from The Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, film projection by Illuminos and aerialist work by the Wired Aerial Theatre.

The music and words for the event are written by Irish composer Ailís Ní Ríain, and the production includes live recordings played alongside live performances from co-principal trumpet of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, Brendan Ball.

The performance takes place in the iconic Liverpool Anglican Cathedral from 1–6 October from 7pm, with two schools performances taking place on Tuesday and Wednesday from 12.15pm.
