Ann Cleare features in the Wittener Tage für Neue Kammermusik 2012
Ann Cleare
The Offaly-born, US-based composer Ann Cleare will have a large ensemble piece premiered by Collegium Novum Zürich. The performance takes place as part of the Wittener Tage für Neue Kammermusik 2012, one of the leading new music festivals in Germany. The festival runs from 27–29 April 2012.
The piece, on magnetic fields, is a commission from the German broadcaster WDR. The composer writes about the piece:
“Dividing the ensemble into three chamber groups, on magnetic fields presents three separated sonic entities: two kinetic whirlwinds created by twin-ensembles with a violin placed at the centre of each, and a contrasting box of light formed by the harp, piano and percussion, which lead these parallel universes of the violins to moments of communication and realisation.”
Ann Cleare’s on magnetic fields will be premiered on 29 April 2012 at the Theatersaal, Witten, Germany. The piece will also be broadcast on WDR 3 on 6 June 2012 at 8:05pm.
