Waterford Choirs Association
Waterford Choirs Association (WCA) stage a performance of Come the Sails, a choral work featuring music by a number of Irish composers on 25 March 2012.
The concert takes place at 5:00pm at Christ Church Cathedral as part of Waterford Writer’s Weekend. The piece is based on Waterford’s rich maritime heritage and received its premiere during the visit to Waterford city of The Tall Ships Races 2011. Commissioned by WCA Come the Sails is a collaborative work written for a massed choir of 200 adults, children and senior citizens and chamber orchestra. The artists featured are choir director and conductor, Niall Crowley; composers, Marian Ingoldsby, Eric Sweeney, Ben Hanlon, Sue Furlong and Greg Scanlon; and poets Michael Coady, Peter Sirr, Megan Nolan, Mark Roper and John Ennis.
