New work from Michael Doherty
A new work for cello quartet by Michael Doherty will be premiered on 28 March. The work, Petits Four, a suite for 4 cellos, will be performed as part of an Irish tour from 28–31 March 2012 by the Herbert Cello Quartet alongside other arrangements by the composer of works by Muse, Piazzolla and the Cinematic Orchestra.
The Herbert Cello Quartet is a recently formed quartet of four Irish cellists - Ben Cashell, Peggy Nolan, Aoife Dennedy and Paul Grennan - who studied at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester.
The tour, which is supported by the Music Network Performance and Touring Award, marks the quartet’s Irish debut and will include performances in Wicklow, Dublin, Dundalk and Drogheda.
