NewSoundWorlds: March 2012 features Hugo Ticciati
Ireland Promoting New Music presents NewSoundWorlds : March 2012 with Hugo Ticciati, in The Kevin Barry Room at The National Concert Hall from 8.30pm, 21 March 2012.
NewSoundWorlds is a concert series curated by the Irish composer Siobhan Cleary, and this month welcomes prolific violinist Hugo Ticciati to perform a programme of extraordinary variety. Acclaimed by figures such as Arvo Part, Ticciati has been developing his international repertoire, and is increasingly embracing the world of new music. On Wed 21 March, Ticciati brings his passion and 'profound understanding' of music to Dublin audiences.
The programme has a distinct travel feel to it, as if the first piece – Road Movies by John Adams – was the start of a sonic world voyage; from Japanese Takemitsu to preeminent Pole Lutoslawski and across the Atlantic to American George Crumb. Through his intimate identification with the nuances of varied genres, Ticciati seamlessly blends this pan-global, pan-era programme in his only planned performance in Ireland in 2012.
Programme
John Adams: Road Movies (First Movement)
Toru Takemitsu: Hika
Béla Bartók: Violin Sonata Number 2
George Crumb: Four Nocturnes
Esaias Järnegard: Stretto
Witold Lutoslawski: Partita
