A major new work from Benjamin Dwyer, Umbilical, is performed on 4-6 November 2011
In the process of producing Umbilical, the creative team of visual artist David Farrell, composer, theorist Tina Kinsella and archivist Michael Dwyer have woven the media of Japanese Butoh dance, contemporary music and visual image with contemporary theory to innovatively re-stage the Oedipus myth. Umbilical revisits the Oedipus story, but this time from the perspective of an alternative protagonist, Jocasta — Oedipus’s lover and mother. Umbilical will premiere in Rua Red, South Dublin Arts Centre, Tallaght, Dublin on Friday 4th and Saturday 5th November at 8pm. For full details and tickets visit: http://www.ruared.ie/
