Take off! A new work by Elaine Agnew premieres in Belfast.

Belfast Music Society otherwise known as the BMS - is the city's longest standing promoter of classical chamber music, and this year celebrates an incredible 90 years of promoting world-class concerts in the city with a specially extended International Festival of Chamber Music.

The Festival’s closing event features outstanding Czech artists, the Škampa Quartet, in the Great Hall at Queen's University on Sunday 20th February at 3.00 pm. Their programme of Dvořák and Janáček is completed by a BMS commission from Belfast-based composer Elaine Agnew, and Elaine will be introducing the new piece in a short pre-concert talk. Elaine was commissioned to write this new piece which she's called "Take off!" for  70 young string players from the City of Belfast School of Music. This work was written especially for them as part of BMS’s annual education project.
