A work by Ann Cleare will be performed at Gaudeamus Music Week

Ann Cleare

The work, I am not a clockmaker either (2009), for accordion and electronics is one of 21 works nominated by the Gaudeamus Music Week jury for the prestigious 2010 Gaudeamus Prize. The work was selected from over 400 entries.

The annual week, which presents 'a cross section of the latest developments in the global village of contemporary music', is organised by CMC's colleagues in the Music Center the Netherlands (MCN) and takes place from 6-12 September in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

The jury for the prize consists of Helena Tulve (Estonia), Donnacha Dennehy (Ireland), and Roderik de Man (The Netherlands).

US-based Irish composer Ann Cleare's I am not a clockmaker either (2009) will be performed by Gertie Bruin in a concert on 7 September 2010. Thanks to a travel grant from Culture Ireland, the composer will travel to Amsterdam to attend the week. The week also features performances of works by jury member Donnacha Dennehy on 8 September 2010, including the second performance of a work for Dutch new music ensemble, de ereprijs, An Irish Process (2010), and a new work for the Dutch-based American violinist Monica Germino.

CMC's General Manager, Jonathan Grimes, has been invited to attend part of the week by MCN and will also be participating in a meeting of the International Association of Music Information Centre's Communications and Projects steering committee while there.
