The next Crash Ensemble concert features guest performers Dawn Upshaw and Iarla O Lionaird

Crash Ensemble

The concert takes place on 2 October 2010 in the Great Hall, Irish Museum of Modern Art, Kilmainham (IMMA) and will feature a new work by the group's artistic Director, Donnacha Dennehy.

The new work, That the Night Come..., is a new Yeats-inspired collection of songs written especially for the four-time Grammy Award-winning and internationally renowned US soprano Dawn Upshaw. The work was commissioned by Dawn Upshaw with funds from the Arts Council.

The concert will also feature new music from the Americas by Argentina’s Osvaldo Golijov performed by Dawn Upshaw, and Ireland’s own internationally distinguished sean nós singer, Iarla O’Lionáird, who will perform Dennehy’s “deeply expressive” (The Irish Times, 2007) Grá agus Bás. The Crash Ensemble will also perform music by New York composer/performer John Zorn.

Following the performance the group will be going directly into the studio to record both Dennehy works for Nonesuch Records for release during 2011.

The concert is presented in association with RTÉ lyric fm and IMMA.

Tickets are priced €30 and €25 (concessions) and are available from www.tickets.ie.
