Sparky Conversations #16: 'Spontaneous Composition' with Izumi Kimura and Cora Venus Lunny

Now entering its fourth season, CMC Sparky Conversations invites inspiring duos across disciplines, from composition, psychology, improvised music, sound art and theatre to lead open and engaging discussions on the theme of collaboration.

On Friday 8 November, we welcome improvising duo Izumi Kimura & Cora Venus Lunny to talk about their work as a performing duo, and the practice of spontaneous composition through collaboration.

Kimura and Lunny, two leading improvisers and performers, joined forces to create adventurous and compelling music. Together they have released two critically-acclaimed albums, Folding (2021, with Anthony Kelly) and Invisible Resistances (2022). 

With eyes closed we listened inwards to our silence. From this space an interaction began.
