TERRAIN - Call for Scores

Deadline: 27 April 2024 23:45

New Horizons Music presents the inaugural TERRAIN Festival of New Music at Accidental Theatre, Shaftesbury Square, Belfast, May 18th 2024.

CALL FOR SCORES

TERRAIN wishes to encourage early-career/emerging composers to submit new short pieces (2-5 minutes) for flute (piccolo/alto flute) and cello.

Submitted pieces should not have been publicly performed before.

Up to 3 pieces will be chosen to be played by Aisling Agnew and Dave McCann of the Hard Rain SoloistEnsemble as part of their festival concert.

HOW TO SUBMIT WORKS

Please email newhorizonsmusiccic@gmail.com with:

  • A short biography including contact details and a statement confirming that the submitted piece has not been previously publicly performed.
  • A PDF of the score with its duration clearly marked.
  • Composers may provide a performing score (transposed if using alto flute) or else must be prepared to quickly provide performing materials if their work is chosen. A MIDI realisation of the piece will be useful but is not compulsory.
  • Composers should also confirm their availability to attend the performance on the afternoon of May 18th should their piece be chosen.

All submissions will be acknowledged within 48 hours.

The inaugural "TERRAIN Festival" is presented by New Horizons Music with funding from the Arts Council of Northern Ireland and in association with Moving on Music and the Contemporary Music Centre.
