Chamber Choir Ireland: Poets, Passion and Peace featuring a new work by Áine Mallon (Dublin, Cork)

From Sanskrit to Scripture and centuries of poetry, Sofi Jeannin joins Chamber Choir Ireland for a concert of contemporary works on the theme of peace
Bringing together contemporary works by Irish, French, and Swedish composers, Chamber Choir Ireland and guest director Sofi Jeannin head to Cork International Choral Festival and New Music Dublin this April, with a programme exploring the theme of peace through texts ranging from Sanskrit, Scripture and some of the greatest poets and writers spanning the centuries. The programme features the world premiere of the winning entry in this year's Seán Ó Riada Composition Competition, as well as a new commission by Irish composer, Áine Mallon.
Chamber Choir Ireland is delighted to welcome back Sofi Jeannin as guest director. Renowned for her beautifully clear and succinct technique, and with a formidable repertoire knowledge and understanding across all genres, Swedish-born Sofi Jeannin has established herself as one of the finest and most respected choral specialists around today. Currently Chief Conductor of the BBC Singers and Music Director of la Maîtrise de Radio France, Jeannin was previously Music Director of the Choeur de Radio France, a post she took up in 2015.
