FUAIM: Nathan Sherman & Alex Petcu - the Shades & Halflights tour, featuring world premieres by Ed Bennett, Áine Mallon & Kevin O'Connell

The Contemporary Music Centre, Ireland is delighted to present Nathan Sherman & Alex Petcu - the 'Shades & Halflights' Ireland and UK tour, supported by PRS Foundation Beyond Borders funding. Across 2023/24, Sherman and Petcu will showcase a dynamic programme of newly commissioned and existing works for viola and percussion by CMC composers Ed Bennett, Siobhán Cleary, Áine Mallon, Kevin O'Connell, Nick Roth, and Benedict Schlepper-Connolly amongst works by international contemporaries.
Nathan Sherman and Alex Petcu are performers at the forefront of contemporary music, winning critical acclaim for their recent album ‘Totemic’ released on the Irish music label Ergodos. For the 'Shades & Halflights' tour, they present works from ‘Totemic’, alongside two world premieres for viola, percussion and electronics by Nick Roth and Siobhán Cleary, commissioned by the duo with funds from The Arts Council / An Chomhairle Ealaíon. With the PRS Foundation Beyond Borders funding new works will be commissioned from composers Ed Bennett, Kevin O’Connell and Áine Mallon.
The first concert of the tour takes place as part of the FUAIM series at the Aula Maxima, UCC. This exciting programme for viola and percussion will include the world premiere performances of the PRS Foundation Beyond Borders commissions by Ed Bennett, Áine Mallon and Kevin O'Connell alongside music by CMC Composers Nick Roth and Benedict Schlepper-Connolly, and composer Kate Moore.

Fuaim concerts are open to the public and admission is free. All concerts take place in the Aula Maxima, UCC and begin at 1.10pm. The concerts will also be live streamed on Youtube.
