The National Symphony Orchestra conducted by Gemma New featuring a work by Ed Bennett
Main Stage, National Concert Hall

Artists: National Symphony Orchestra; Gemma New, conductor; Eoín Fleming, piano.
‘A conductor whose renown is sure to grow’ (The Plain Dealer), Gemma New leads the National Symphony Orchestra in three works by three very different composers that stress intensity and immediacy.
Hailed for his ‘unclassifiable, raw-nerve music of huge energy and imagination’ (The Guardian), Ed Bennett’s Freefalling is inspired by Felix Baumgartner's 2012 world-record freefall. It revels in Bennett’s ‘anarchic’ (Irish Times) and ‘thrilling’ (Gramophone) signature with hammering cymbals, drums, brass and strings.
Programme
Ed Bennett - Freefalling
Beethoven - Piano Concerto No. 5, ‘Emperor’
Tchaikovsky - Symphony No. 4
