Irish Youth Choir Summer Concerts featuring works by Seán Doherty and Charles Villiers Stanford (Cork, Limerick, Dublin)

17 August 2022 19:00 - 20 August 2022 22:00

“Birds do sing, Hey ding-a-ding-ding….” Composers like birds!

Sing Ireland presents the Irish Youth Choir, conducted by Bernie Sherlock for a series of summer concerts in Cork, Limerick and Dublin. The concert programme features a work by Charles Villiers Stanford, and two works Seán Doherty including the world premiere of 'The Peace You Hold'.

Whether pieces are from the 1400s or 2021, or by Panufnik or Brahms, there’s a bird in there, somewhere. They appear in music that profoundly celebrates the whole wide world of nature. Sometimes they just sit above, wry observers of the canoodling behaviour of human lovers, and at other times they are feathered symbols of freedom or longing. And sometimes they are simply themselves, the stars in beautiful music that’s all about them.

Concerts take place in Cork (17 August), Limerick (19 August) & Dublin (20 August) - for venues and ticket links see below.
