Cape Symphony presents Passport to Ireland featuring US premiere of Seóirse Bodley's 'I Have Loved the Lands of Ireland' from Symphony No.2
Barnstable Performing Arts Center

Put on your favorite green and join us on an unforgettable musical adventure to Ireland! For our trip to the Emerald Isle, we’re bringing along two stellar artists who will transport us all! GRAMMY-winning Eileen Ivers is the world’s pre-eminent Irish fiddler today and we’re delighted to have her back on the Cape Symphony stage. The Irish Times says, "She electrifies the crowd with a dazzling show of virtuoso playing.”
Phenomenal Celtic harp player Maeve Gilchrist takes the instrument to new heights. She tours with Yo-Yo Ma’s Silkroad Ensemble and is the co-music director of WGBH’s Christmas Celtic Sojourn. The Irish Times said her recent album is “a snapshot of a musician at the top of her game.”
We’ll feature important Irish composers Hamilton Harty and Seóirse Bodley, each contributing a unique voice to the various periods of Irish symphonic music, as well as pieces composed by Maeve Gilchrist and Eileen Ivers. Percy Grainger’s version of “Danny Boy” shows how Irish folk music can be set in a sophisticated way. Together with two superstars of Irish music, we’ll bring you a fabulous experience.
