Singers are wanted for a new Dublin-based ensemble called SoundSet.
SoundSet, a new ensemble led by Laura Kilty and Emma O'Halloran, aims to put on high quality concerts which feature repertoire from a variety of musical genres: contemporary, electronica, old music, Baroque and anything well-written and exciting!
The ensemble will be a combination of string and voice sections, with a view to expand into a full orchestra over the next few years. Choir auditions are being held on Thursday 8 July in the Kevin Barry Room in the National Concert Hall from 6.30pm.
The audition process entails singing Panis Angelicus by Franck (without accompaniment), an excerpt from Was ist Sylvia? by Schubert (English is permitted and an accompanist will be provided) and a third piece from any genre. There will also be a short sight-singing test and some vocal exercises to determine your range.
Should you wish to audition, please register your interest by sending an email to soundsetensemble@gmail.com. We will send you the scores required and piano versions of the pieces (please include your voice type). Please also download and fill out the application form below. Applications must be returned by 5.00pm on Thursday 1 July. Your audition time will be sent to you after this date.
The financial times being as they are at present, we don't foresee it possible to pay musicians in the first year. Funding and sponsorship applications will be made to this end though, and we aim to have the funds in place for this in the second year. What you will get for being a member of SoundSet from the very beginning is:
- Help in your professional development including workshops and masterclasses
- Weekly group vocal lessons before rehearsals
- Professional photographs and professional recordings to add to your portfolios
- Opportunities for solos
- Opportunities for touring
We look forward to hearing from you!
