Gareth Williams is an Irish composer living in Glasgow, having achieved his doctorate from St. Andrews’ University. He has become well known for his work in opera, in particular short operas, and has had works performed in many festivals in the UK, as well as in Russia at the War and Peace Conference. He is the first composer-in-residence at Scottish Opera.

Mister MacNeep has lost his Sheep is a 45-minute Christmas-themed work aimed at 3-5 year olds, with live music, puppets and singing. From the composer’s website: “As a rule, I try to make operas that require no previous knowledge, and are approachable to new audiences. However, this one requires you to be able to count to 12 and make all the animal sounds of the farmyard.”

Mister MacNeep is written to words by Ross Stenhouse, and will be directed by Lisa Gregan.
