A performance of Neil Martin’s Vanished Lands takes place on 14 October

The work, which was produced as part of CMC’s project, New Notes Now, is a commission from Wicklow County Council under the Per Cent for Art Scheme on behalf of Music Generation Wicklow.

Premiered in July of this year by Club Cheol na Lochanna and Music under the Mountains, the work by Belfast-Born composer Neil Martin will be performed again by the two groups at Music Generation’s National Conference 2014 at the National Concert Hall (NCH).

The conference, entitled ‘Performance, Participation and Partnership: Looking to the Future – a National Music Education Conference’, runs from 13–14 October at the NCH and will feature some of the work happening in music education through Music Generation.

CMC’s Promotion and Development Manager, Karen Hennessy, will participate in a conference session looking at composition and performance in music education on 14 October, along with composer Brian Irvine, among others.
