Matthew Whiteside

‘Firing Sound’ is a collaboration between Matthew Whiteside and ceramic art sculptors Andrew Cooke and Robert Martin. The project involves the three artists collaborating over a 3-week period, with Whiteside recording the sounds of the building and sounds of Andrew Cooke’s work in progress.

The final work will involve a 15-minute sound work and for the sculptors to create a series of textural ceramic sculptural works taken from surfaces and objects in and around the R-Space building, and in response to Matthew’s compositions. The project will also include an installation exhibition of the ceramic work produced with a backdrop sound-scape of Matthew Whiteside’s musical compositions.

The exhibition takes place at the R-Space Gallery, Belfast from 20 September until 19 October (Tuesday to Saturday, 11am - 5pm).
