Louth Contemporary Music Society presents Monk’s Music and other works by the Russian Composer Alexander Raskatov
The concert takes place on 3 May 2014 in St. Peter’s Church of Ireland Drogheda as part of the Drogheda Arts Festival and will feature a performance of Raskatov’s Seven Words by Starets Silouan for string quartet and voice performed by the Carducci Quartet and Robert Macdonald, alongside some song cycles performed by the composer and soprano Elena Vassilieva.
Originally premiered in 2013 in Dundalk, Raskatov’s Seven Words by Starets Silouan was recorded and released by Louth Contemporary Music Society.
Born in Moscow in 1953, Alexander Raskatov has received commissions for new works from Gidon Kremer, the Sabine Meyer Wind Ensemble, Netherlands Wind Ensemble, the Hilliard Ensemble and the Schoenberg Ensemble, among others.
