The Kaleidoscope series celebrates its 2nd birthday with a special event on 11 December 2011
The musical event curated by Cliodhna Ryan and Kate Ellis takes place in the Button Factory, Temple Bar from 9:00pm until late on Sunday, 11 December, and also includes an earlier drinks reception at 7:30pm.
Featuring what promises to be “a magical Kaleidoscope cocktail of elegance, excellence and excitement”, the night includes the world premiere of a new work by Glasgow-based composer David Fennessy. The work, Duo for Violin, Cello and Electronics, was specially written for Kaleidoscope co-curators, violinist Cliodhna Ryan and cellist Kate Ellis, and was commissioned with support from the Arts Council.
The night also includes performances from the award-winning choir, New Dublin Voices (NDV) conducted by Bernie Sherlock, and a special performance of Steve Reich’s seminal work for string quartet, Different Trains, performed in celebration of the composer’s 75th birthday year. An “after-hours show” features more performances from NDV alongside music from two bands, I Draw Slow and Prison Love.
Tickets for the show are €22.50 and are available from tickets.ie. Further details available from www.kaleidoscopenight.com.
