Supporting New Music ......... in Britain

The Holst Foundation has commissioned a consultation report on proposals to support new music in Britain. The document will set out a workable approach to development and promotion, with particular reference to the creative work of composers and performers of new music. It will also consider the best means of providing access, nationally and internationally, to the music performance and research materials which constitute a significant part of Britain’s cultural heritage. The research will be based on wide consultation within the music sector and input is invited from anyone with an interest in new music. It will be carried out by arts consultant Eve O’Kelly in conjunction with Michael Hooper, and guided by an advisory panel chaired by composers Colin Matthews and Nicola LeFanu.

The report will be circulated in May 2011 and followed up by a consultation and feedback phase to draw responses together into a set of targeted action points.
