TCD Music Composition Centre will host a series of talks by Irish composers
The Trinity College Music Composition Centre was set up last year to provide a platform to introduce new music and composers to students and the public through talks and performances. This term sees a series of composers and performers giving talks at the Centre in Trinity, starting with Gerald Barry on 4 October, who is also adjunct professor at the college. 11 October will see Ergodos director and composer Garrett Sholdice speak at the centre and on 22 November the Iran-born Emeritus professor at Trinity Hormoz Farhat. The series will finish in December with a talk by UCC composer and lecturer Mel Mercier.
Also in the series are performers Stuart King, clarinetist with the CHROMA Ensemble, on 18 October, Alex Kidston of vox merus brass ensemble on 1 November and pianist Pavlos Antoniadis on 15 November. Visiting composers include York’s Nicola LeFanu, and British film composer Brian Lock.
All events at the Music Composition Centre in Trinity College Dublin are free of charge but must be booked. For more information see www.tcd.ie/music-composition.
