Roger Doyle at the Mermaid Arts Centre, Bray on 26 November 2011

The Wicklow-based composer will perform with Congolese guitarist Niwel Tsumbu, and special guests Julie Feeney and Vyvienne Long. The concert is the fourth in a series of concerts marking Roger Doyle and Niwel Tsumbu’s year-long residency at the Mermaid Arts Centre.

The concert will feature improvisation and specially-composed music by Doyle, as well as performances by award-winning composer and singer Julie Feeney, and singer and cellist Vyvienne Long.

Roger Doyle’s latest electroacoustic project Chalant was the subject of a recent radio documentary on RTÉ lyric fm’s Nova devised by presenter Bernard Clarke. The programme made the top 5 in the Radio Music Category at the prestigious 2011 Prix Europa Awards held in October. Chalant draws on telephone answering machine messages left by the composer’s family and friends from the late 1980s.

Roger Doyle and Niwel Tsumbu perform at the Mermaid Arts Centre, Bray, on 26 November 2011 at 8.00pm. Tickets for the concert are €16/€14.
