Ensemble Avalon presents Winter Chamber Festival, Wexford, 3-5 December 2010

Acclaimed Irish trio Ensemble Avalon return to Wexford from the 3rd to the 5th of December for their third annual Winter Chamber Festival in the atmospheric surroundings of St Iberius Church and Greenacres Art Gallery, Selskar, Wexford.  Violinist Ioana Petcu-Colan, cellist Gerald Peregrine and pianist Michael McHale will be joined by two very special guest artists, Patricia Rozario, OBE (soprano) and Michael d’Arcy (violin), to perform programmes of music by Mozart, Schubert, Shostakovich, Prokofiev, Beethoven, Strauss and Britten.

The Ensemble will also perform a world premiere of a newly-commissioned work for piano trio by young Irish composer Benedict Schlepper-Connolly.  Further details and ticket information from (086) 3636080, www.ensembleavalon.net and www.musicforwexford.ie

A highly accomplished piano trio, Ensemble Avalon are determined not only to create opportunities for themselves to perform by producing this festival, but also to promote new work, young Irish composers and to encourage younger audiences towards classical music.  Ensemble Avalon has also been appointed as the Ensemble-in-Residence at Trinity College Dublin, beginning in January 2011.  This is the first residency of its kind in Ireland and reflects the high regard in which this young trio are held.
