Rúaidhrí Mannion will be one of the featured composers at the Soundings Festival in London
London-based Irish composer Rúaidhrí Mannion will have 2 of his works performed at the week-long festival organised by the Austrian Cultural Forum London.
The composer has written a new octet for the occasion, Scáil Cruach, which will be premiered on 31 October at the Royal College of Music. Darragh Morgan will also perform an adaptation of his work [le socrú] for violin and live electronics on 30 October at the Austrian Cultural Forum London.
Curated by Irish pianist Mary Dullea, ACF’s Soundings 2014 platform runs from 28-31 October and brings together composers from Austria and the UK for a week of events including concerts, talks, and open rehearsals.
The other featured composers are Šimon Voseček, Joanna Lee, Julia Purgina, Arturo Fuentes and Tom Coult.
As well as open rehearsals which take place throughout the week, composer Piers Hellawell will moderate a number of panel discussions throughout the week, and will also interview each of the featured composers about their work during both concerts.
