Meet the composer: Finola Merivale
We profile some of the composers who have been accepted for CMC representation over the last year.
Finola Merivale’s music focuses on intercultural composition, improvisation and person-specific pieces. Awards include Travel and Training Awards from the Arts Council/An Chomhairle Ealaíon, the Fusion Arts Award which was funded by the US State Department, the Staf Gebruers’ Scholarship for Excellence in Music in UCC (2009) and the Irish Student Drama Association’s Award for Sound Design (2008).
Her work The Language of Mountains is Rain - Three Miniatures for String Quartet (2013) was premiered by Adrianne Pope (vn), Min Park (vn), Gabriel Taubman (va) and Doublas Machiz (vc) at Bang on a Can Summer Music Festival, USA on 29 July 2013.
