A doctoral thesis on the music of Michael McGlynn has won a prestigious US award.

Stacie Lee Rossow, DMA Candidate in Choral Conducting from the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami, was awarded the prestigious Presser Award for research in music in March 2009. This award was granted to further her doctoral thesis research on the topic "The Choral Music of Irish Composer Michael McGlynn".

As part of the grant, Michael McGlynn visited the University of Miami and Florida Atlantic University in February of 2010. His visit included a series of masterclasses and lectures on his music, Irish choral music, and his knowledge of the international music business field. The week-long residency culminated in the final doctoral recital of Ms. Rossow as she presented a program of McGlynn's music at St. Philip's Episcopal Church in Coral Gables, Miami on Sunday, Feb. 21st.

The thesis will be published later this year and provides a comprehensive document on McGlynn's choral output, with specific reference to performance and influences.
