The 2nd Donegal Chamber Music Festival features the work of Irish composer Derek Ball

Taking place in the beautiful setting of Glenveagh National Park from 29 May to 7 June, the festival includes a number of works by Letterkenny-born composer Derek Ball.

The opening concert on 29 May by the Donegal Chamber Orchestra includes his Mosters from the Forest (1996). On 1 June, Donegal Camerata will perform his 2011 piece O’Carolan in Love, a work based on dances and tunes by Turlough O´Carolan and specially composed for the group.

The remaining concerts feature vocal music - Five Tagore Songs (2011) - in a concert entitled ‘Songs for a Summer Evening’ 6 June with the Conwal Singers, and a work for string ensemble - Brian Rae’s Berceuse - performed by the Donegal Camerata String Quintet.
