Tom Cullivan's Violin Concerto premiered on 26 April in Maynooth

The concerto will be performed in a concert at the Aula Maxima, Maynooth University at 4pm on 26 April 2015 by the Maynooth University Orchestra with soloist Sébastien Petiet and conductor Lorcan Daly.

Written for and dedicated to Sébastien Petiet, the concerto has its origins in 2004 when the composer sent a first draft of the concerto to the soloist. Petiet had previously performed the composer’s Sonata for Violin and Piano ten years before, and had expressed interest back then in seeing a concerto should Tom Cullivan ever write one.

The programme also includes works by Bach, Mascagni and Ravel. Tickets €15/10 will be available at the door or through the music department.
