New work from Roger Doyle and Niwel Tsumba

This year Wicklow-based musicians, dynamic Congolese guitarist Niwel Tsumbu and highly regarded composer and member of Aosdána Roger Doyle join their creative forces for a series of four concerts as part of their year long residency at Mermaid Arts Centre, Bray.

Roger Doyle produced his first recorded album Oizzo No in 1975, and has released numerous CDs. He specialises in electro-acoustic music, and has worked extensively in theatre, film and dance. Both artists have previously performed concerts at Mermaid Arts Centre. Niwel moved to Ireland in 2004 where he quickly made friends with the Irish music scene. He began playing with many local bands and formed the groups Sumu, Jazzmu and Motema. He has played on many stages including Cork and Bray Jazz Festivals and the Festival of World Cultures in Dun Laoghaire.

For this concert they are joined by percussionist Robbie Harris and Michael Buckley on the tenor saxophone and flute.

This is a rare opportunity to enjoy new music before anyone else and promises to be an exhilarating and memorable evening of collaboration, improvisation and experimentation.
