Concorde perform in Galway and Dublin during March

Concorde present two concerts between now and the end of the March: one a part of their regular Up Close with music series in Dublin, and one as part of a Galway Music Residency programme at Nun's Island Theatre, Galway.

At Nun's Island Theatre, the ensemble will join forces with the Galway Ensemble in Residence, RTÉ ConTempo Quartet to present a programme of new music from Ireland, Finland, USA, Canada Australia and the UK. Included in the programme is Ed Bennett’s Static Tones and Sliding Drones, which the ensemble premiered recently, as well as ensemble director Jane O’Leary’s the echo of all that’s happened, a work recently release on CMC’s new music::new Ireland 2 album. Other composers featured include Ian Wilson, Taylor Brook, Nirmali Fenn, Richard Pressley, Kaia Pierson and Magnus Lindberg. Up Close with Music continues the following weekend with a premiere of a new work by Linda Buckley for bass clarinet, violin, cello and electronics which will be performed twice at the concert. The programme features a number of premieres – Irish premieres of works by Dave Fennessy (Changeless and the changed (St. Kilda Dandelion)), Helgi Ingvarsson (Loftkastali (Castle in the Air)), Jonathan Harvey (Fanfare); world premieres from Jerome de Bromhead (Charlie’s Lonesome Violin Blues) and Nickitas Demos (Guts ’n’ Bellows); and the European premiere of Koku (Vacuity) by Hong Kong composer Yip Kim Fung. The event takes place on 29 March at 2.30pm, at the RHA Gallery in Dublin.
