The Contemporary Music Centre launches the Dublin Literary New Music Trail 2011
The Contemporary Music Centre is delighted to present The Dublin Literary New Music Trail 2011, a celebration of the rich connections between Irish writers and Irish composers, in recognition of Dublin’s UNESCO City of Literature status. The Dublin Literary New Music Trail 2011 consists of a main trail at the literary parade in St Patrick’s Park as well as an extended trail across South Georgian Dublin and invites you to take a musical journey inspired by the words of Irish writers and poets, with music that gives a fresh perspective on Irish literature old and new.
CMC’s Director, Evonne Ferguson will launch The Dublin Literary New Music Trail 2011 at the centre on Monday 23 May from 6pm –8.00pm. A special screening of 5 ReJoyce in Music Videos celebrating the inspiration of James Joyce on 5 Irish composers: Vincent Kennedy, Michael Holohan, Trevor Knight, Rob Canning and Benjamin Dwyer, takes place at 7:30pm. Rejoyce in Music is being screened as part of the Dublin Writers’s Festival (23-29 May 2011). www.dublinwritersfestival.com
The Dublin Literary New Music Trail 2011 will continue throughout the summer: 23 May – 31 Aug 2011, supported by Dublin City Council Events Unit; Dublin City Council Arts Office; and RTÉ lyric fm.
