A new work by Vincent Kennedy based on texts by John F. Kennedy will be premiered on 22 March

The composer will conduct the world premiere of his new work The Torch Still Burns Brightly at the Civic Theatre, Tallaght, Dublin on Saturday, 22 March at 8pm.

Inspired by aspects President Kennedy’s life, the work set the words of John F. Kennedy to music in a multiple movement piece. The music will be performed by chamber choir Cantando (director Órla Barry), A Company of Friends, soprano soloist Aisling Kennedy, narrator Brian Molloy and the Symphonic Wind Band of the Rathfarnham Concert Band Society. Vincent Kennedy has also written the narrative and is producing, directing and funding the concert in association with the Civic Theatre, Tallaght.

Admission is €20/€12 and booking is available at 01–462–7477 or online at www.civictheatre.ie. The show’s first half will consist of music from film and the great American song book spanning President Kennedy’s life from 1917 to 1963.
