Welcome to a new Contemporary Music Centre Website!

We are delighted to unveil a new website for the Contemporary Music Centre today. The site marks the first step in a major digital initiative for us during 2016, which will include the development of a new information system for CMC's collections, and a partnership project between The Digital Repository Ireland and the Insight Centre for Data Analytics at NUI Galway to deliver a new online discovery platform for Irish composers' music.

Developed by Dublin-based web development company Annertech, the new website features a brand new modern design which showcases Irish composers and their works alongside rich content and information on the contemporary music landscape on the island of Ireland, which CMC regularly produces. Among the new features included will be the ability for composers to edit their own composer pages, and a much-improved events section. We also have a number of other exciting new features and enhancements for the site planned for the coming months, so stay tuned for these!

CMC has long been at the forefront of the use of new technology in collecting and disseminating new Irish music. Its web site was among the first Irish arts site created in 1996, and it was also one of the first organisations to begin podcasting in 2005.

From our magazine, New Music News, about the launch of our first website in 1996:

While somewhat apprehensive about the consequences for our workload of our presence in cyberspace, we are convinced that this new promotional tool will open up new doors for Irish composers and welcome the opportunities it will bring.

20 years on we hope that our new website will continue to help bring opportunities for Irish composers and performers, and celebrate the past, present and future of new music from Ireland in an engaging and user-focused way.
