Deane Premiere at TradFest

A new work by Raymond Deane will be premiered by Young European Strings as part of Temple Bar TradFest on 30 January.

Young European Strings Chamber Orchestra (YESCO) is a unique, international award-winning string ensemble, consisting of fifteen musicians aged eleven to sixteen years. They started learning a musical instrument in the Young European Strings School of Music at the age of three to four years and were selected to play in the YESCO based on their instrumental excellence. Each musician of this ensemble is a Feis Ceoil prizewinner and the YESCO itself is first prizewinner of the 38th Edition of the International Youth & Music Festival Vienna 2009, under the baton of its artistic director Ronald Masin.

Before the performance, a talk will link the dances by 18th century composers for the entertainment of the owners of Irish Castles as well as Kings of the German, English and French courts, with the compositions of Carolan the blind Irish harpist and the familiar traditional dances from Donegal, Clare and other parts of Ireland. The hour-long entertainment by YESCO will also present dances by Grieg, Britten and Tchaikovsky.
