Ensemble Avalon feature music by Eibhlis Farrell, Ian Wilson and Philip Hammond on 20 November 2011
The trio will perform a programme of new music at the Sundays @ Noon concert series on 20 November 2011 at Dublin City Gallery, the Hugh Lane. Eibhlis Farrell's cello work, Stillsong will be performed by the group's cellist, Gerald Peragrine, and Ian Wilson's 1999 work, Spilliaert's Beach inspired by Belgian artist, Leon Spilliaert's 1908 painting Moonlit Beach, will be performed by the trio's violinist and pianist, Ioana Petcu-Colan and Michael McHale. The work will also include a work by Belfast-based composer Philip Hammond as well as works by British composer Jonathan Russell and Dublin-based composer and TCD music lecturer Evangelia Rigaki.
Ensemble Avalon is currently participating in a three-year long residency in Trinity College, Dublin (TCD). The residency, which is the first of its kind in TCD, is a collaboration between theTCD Music Department and the Sundays at Noon Concert Series and aims to provide a professional chamber music group for the benefit of the students.
The concert begins at 12:00 noon on 20 November 2011 at Dublin City Gallery, the Hugh Lane.
