Irish composers in Beijing

A festival involving Irish composer’s music takes place from 14-18 March 2012 in Beijing, China. The Native Music festival, which has been running since 2009, will be held at the Central Conservatory of Music, Beijing and features performances from a number of Irish composers including Enda Bates, Roger Doyle and Brian Bridges.

The brainchild of Dr Benoit Granier, the festival aims to introduce contemporary Irish music to chinese audiences as well as opening a discussion on the notion of music and culture. It is jointly organised by the conservatory and Irish Embassy and is funded by the Culture Ireland, as well as the conservatory.

The festival will include a symposium on contemporary Irish music on St Patrick’s Day and is followed by a concert on the 18 March.
