The CMC contemporary music prize at the Feis Ceoil has been won by young flautist Naoise O Briain

The Contemporary Music Centre’s award for the best performance of an Irish work at Dublin's Feis Ceoil has been won by a young flautist.

Naoise O Briain is a fourth-year student of Bill Dowdall at the Royal Irish Academy of Music and he played two pieces by John Buckley. He was awarded the Contemporary Irish Music Cup presented by Feis Ceoil and a monetary prize from CMC on 15 March 2010.

The Contemporary Irish Music Cup is awarded annually for the best performance of Irish works written since 1950.
