Successful applications have been announced for the 2010 touring fund of the Arts Council.
Eleven music organisations have been successful in gaining funding from the Arts Council for touring activities. They include Crash Ensemble, First Music Contact, the Irish Baroque Orchestra and the National Chamber Choir.
Announcing grants of over €1 million specifically for touring and dissemination, the Arts Council said that the funding would enable 44 individual artists and organisations to take their shows on the road to all corners of Ireland. The scheme follows the success of the Arts Council's 'Touring Experiment' in 2007 and 2008 and is designed to encourage arts organisations to take their best shows to audiences in every county.
