Peter Moran is working on a commission for Kildare County Council

The commission is part of the Per Cent for Art scheme and involves the composition of a new work each school term in 2012–13 for the children of Caragh National School, Naas.

The composer writes about the project:

"During each term, I will visit the school once a week to hold workshops and rehearsals. My intention is not just to teach the children how to perform the music I’ll be writing, but to have them compose their own short pieces using the same techniques. This will help them to better understand the commissioned work while also developing their own creative skills. At the end of each term then, the children will perform the commissioned work alongside their own original compositions."

An active educator, Dublin-based composer Peter Moran is the author of CMC’s New Music Alive series of workbooks for primary schools.
