"Fuzzy Logic Small-tet" and the ICC present an evening of new improvised music
On September 20th at 8:30pm, the Kevin Barry Room at the National Concert Hall will host an exciting concert showcasing a new collaboration between like-minded musicians and composers. The “Fuzzy Logic Small-tet” and the Irish Composers Collective present an evening of new improvised music.
Dylan Rynhart’s ‘Fuzzy Logic Ensemble’ has long been held as a significant force on the Irish jazz scene and the composer’s new group, the ‘Fuzzy Logic Small-tet’, brings the spontaneity of his improvised music in a smaller format. The quartet features some of the finest improvising musicians performing in Ireland today in the classical and jazz idioms, who are open to exploring new musical territory with force and conviction, namely Cathal Roche (saxophones), Justin Carroll (piano/keyboards), Cormac O’Brien (double bass), Matt Jacobson (drums).
Members of the Irish Composers Collective have collaborated with the ‘Fuzzy Logic Small-tet’ to compose a programme of music that takes full advantage of the possibilities of improvised music. Each composer brings their own personal compositional style to the table, ensuring a diverse concert programme filled with a range of textures and approaches. Expect an evening of spontaneous musical dialogue and exciting interplay as a group of versatile musicians negotiate new music by a vibrant group of young Irish composers including Dylan Rynhart, Dennis Wyers, Richard Gill, Bill McGrath.
This concert will feature the world première of Dylan Rynhart’s extended composition "Morally Wrong".
Tickets are available at the door and a pre-concert talk will commence at 8pm.
