CMC and the ICC present the third Night of New Music

The Contemporary Music Centre and the Irish Composers’ Collective join forces to present a third Night of New Music in the Kevin Barry Room of the National Concert Hall, 27 April 2011. Following on from the other highly successful Nights of New Music, this night begins again with The Contemporary Music Centre’s new music::new Ireland salon series, followed by the Irish Composers’ Collective monthly concert, with a special offer on wine and tapas in the National Concert Hall during the break.

The Contemporary Music Centre’s new music::new Ireland salon, 6pm – 7pm, 27 April 2011, features composer/performer Karen Power in a collaborative work entitled Movement of Sound with dancer/choreographer Mary Nunan. Movement of Sound seeks to combine movement and sound in a way that will speak across a number of artistic platforms, attracting fresh and untried audiences and creating new and more complete experiences of movement, sound, movement through sound and sound through movement. The final piece which involves musicians Kate Ellis (cello) and Deirdre O’Leary (clarinet) will tour 16 – 19 June to Cork, Limerick and Dublin. The project is funded by the Arts Council / An Chomhairle Ealaion.

The Irish Composers’ Collective is pleased to welcome the Quiet Music Ensemble - John Godfrey, Séan Mac Erlaine & Isla de Ziah to their monthly concert series and this month they will perform the works of Alyson Barber, Solfa Carlile, Patrick Connolly, Susan Geaney, Aristides Llaneza and Adam McCartney, 830pm – 930pm, 27 April 2011, pre-concert talk at 815pm.
