CMC supports the Contemporary Irish Prize at the EPTA Ireland Piano Festival

Piano students will once again compete for the Contemporary Irish Prize as part of the second EPTA Ireland Piano Festival, taking place in the Kevin Barry Room of the National Concert Hall on 22 and 23 February.

A prize of €100 is presented by the Contemporary Music Centre to the winner of the competition, which is open to fourth, fifth and sixth year students in the second level school system performing a piece (maximum 7 minutes) written by an Irish composer since 1960 and taken from the library collection of CMC.  This year, the competition will take place at 12.15pm on Saturday 23 February and will be adjudicated by Margaret O’Sullivan Farrell.

The festival will close with a student concert and reception at 6.30 in the Kevin Barry Room.  A full schedule of competitions is available at thttp://epta.ie/index.php/epta-piano-festival/schedule/
