Irene Buckley reaches the final of Tansman 2010 composer's competition
Irene Buckley is one of five finalists in the TANSMAN 2010 - VIII International Competition of Musical Personalities, Composer's Competition. The Composer's competition happens every two years as it alternates with a competition for performers .
Irene’s piece Stórr, for orchestra, was selected from two hundred and forty five entries from fifty countries, and will be performed by the Lodz Philharmonic Orchestra on the 19th November 2010 in Lodz, Poland. The international jury consisted of Zygmunt Krauze, Louis Andriessen, Michael Nyman, Ana Lara, Hwang-Long Pan, Aaron Jay Kernis and Jose Manuel Lopez. Grand prize on offer is €12,000.

The Competition final and the award ceremony have been combined with an outstanding event: world premiere of Michael Nyman's Chopin/Milton Songs, commissioned by the organizers of the Tansman Festival in the Chopin Year.
