Beal present two recitals by soprano Elizabeth Hilliard and pianist and composer David Bremner during January
The concerts will be held in the National Concert Hall’s Kevin Barry Room on 17 and 31 January and feature new works specially written for the duo by Garrett Sholdice and Siobhán Cleary, as well as performances of works by Rhona Clarke and David Bremner.
The two recitals are somewhat different in mood. The concert on Tuesday, 17 January is full of sudden outbursts of colour and as well as the Cleary commission, the concert will include the first complete performance of Rhona Clarke’s Five Songs, a seasonal fairytale by Co. Kerry-based Massimo Davi, and music by Debussy.
The concert on Tuesday, 31 January presents a selection from Schubert’s stark Schwanengesang alongside Garrett Sholdice’s three lieder after franz schubert, Bremner’s monodrama The bright kids (logic ballad), and Webern’s compact Vier Lieder.
Both concerts begin at 7:30pm.
