A new CD of Gráinne Mulvey’s works is released this month

akanos_1024x768The new disc, Akanos, released on 25 February on the Navona Records label  features a selection of recent vocal, instrumental, electronic and orchestral works by Mulvey.

Taking the title from her 2006 orchestral work Akanos, a Greek word meaning a barb or spine, the disc includes the title track performed by the Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra; Shifting Colours and Soundscape III for flute and tape performed by Joe O’Farrell; pianist Matthew Schellhorn’s performance of Steel-Grey Splinters; two works performed by soprano Elizabeth Hilliard, The Gift of Freedom and Seafarer; and Syzygy performed by Annette Cleary.
